I recently returned from my long awaited caribou hunt in Manitoba. In a nutshell, it was fantastic... Caribou everywhere, the guide and staff were great, accommodations were fantastic, etc. I hunting with The Lodge at Little Duck. Everyone in camp took two nice bulls. The group there the week before us also all tagged out. There were caribou everywhere when we left, so assume the hunters coming in all were successful as well. Manitoba only allows 250 non-resident and 250 resident tags each year. The herd that migrates down from Nunavut is estimated at over 400,000, so the herd is basically untouched. Fishing was great as well...caught Lake Trout and Arctic grayling. I didn't catch anything super big, but a 36" and a 37 1/2" Laker were caught by a couple other guys while I was there.. I couldn't have asked for a better hunt..... It was great!! Here are a few photos..

The second bull I shot....

sounds amazing. Glad to hear you were able to share the hunt with others that were also successful. Nothing better than a camp full of hunters that have all bagged an animal or 2 in your case.

Thanks for your post. It is cool to see something a little different... don't get me wrong, i'm not the least bit tired of Elk, Goats, Moose etc.

What week did you book your hunt?

Manitoba only allows 250 non-resident and 250 resident tags each year. HUMMM just wonder how that would work in BC ....

Yes, a total of 500 tags for a herd of over 400,000 that migrates down. Why so few, I have no idea but it make for some tremendous hunting!!!

Fantastic!

Manitoba Caribou surely is one of the finest guided hunts available anywhere on Earth these days. Keeping the number of available licenses reasonable will help to insure that this is the case well into the future, in my estimation.

from what I hear the numbers have jumped in the last year or two, something about ice and 1 million lost Quebec caribou, and I would not be surprised to see a GOS in that area soon,
