does anyone know what to put on antlers to keep them from fadeing

you can clear coat them with a satin finish or when they are already faded you can buy some wood stain and restain them with it.

Rub walnut oil or linseed oil on them. If they have faded you can try potassium permanganate. It comes in a crystal form from the pharmacy. Dilute a small amount of the crystals in water and lightly paint onto the antlers. Starts out a bright purple color but as it oxidizes it turns antler brown. Apply more to make darker. Apply the oil after doing the colouring.

dark mahogany shoe polish should work, it's about five buck to buy use a cloth.

Tung oil works well, has a natural looking colour and isn't shiny. Just wipe it on with a rag and wear old clothes....it won't come out.

olive oil keeps em shiny and free of cracks

are you storing them on an outside wall in the elements?
none of my racks have lost any of their colour.
the beautiful dark ones still look like they did when the deer hit the ground.
what's causing them to fade or crack?
