Why than are you hunting elk if you can't pack it out ?
You could debone it !

Wayne your the man, for not shooting that huge 6x6 herd bull elk.
You knew it was too large to get out and your thought process was dead on.
Even the heavy whitetailed buck a hundred yards below you and you said, hey o
I can't place any amm o, that's why your special, you use your noggin.
Even tho your in real good shape you know your limits and don't stop believing brother.
Some hunters will come up to hunt with you and then, the bull can fall.
If you get another chance at the record bull.
Wayner keep up the great threads and posts.
Good luck this next few weeks or so.

some elk are easier to retrieve than others, ie: high side vs low side makes a big difference. Wayne is getting older and I can respect the fact that he knows his abilities given weather and terrain.

I did take down that bull the next evening this picture of this bull is the next morning ,,I made my decision to take him when he came out at 7.45pm mountain time ,,got back to my truck at 10.30pm that night after cleaning that bull and getting the bull off the ground onto some logs so the air would circulate under his hide,,, I was set up in my blind I built that early afternoon ,,the bull came out behind the five cows ,,I have not got time to tell the story and put up more pictures of my solo hunt I am getting ready to head back into my camp first thing tomorrow morning ,,will tell the whole story when I have time latter.

I have passed up some nice WT bucks them being 5x5 and 5x6 hope it won't come back to haunt me I will be posting up them videos clips I have taken when I get some time in the future maybe even a picture of a good size WT buck if I find the right one LOL ,,stay tuned H-47

X2. Nobody should ever be flamed for making the ethical decision to let an animal walk.

Hey hunter1947

Just wanted to express my gratitude for your youtube channel.
I watch your videos all the time and love the fact that your thoughts and emotions come out loud and clear. There is no heavy metal music to drown the point of the matter.
And I appreciate that.
On days I can't go hunting and am thinking about it I watch your videos and they remind me of what it's all about and it feels like I'm the one in the bush chasing elk.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Another solo hunt by myself got home late last night I will be headed back into the bush tomorrow no time to put up my story etc will tell story about how I had to think twice before I pulled the trigger on this buck to end my WT season  have to get back in to try for a mule deer..

Guards are 6 and 5 inches high the main beams are 22 left 23 inches long on the right side ,,the inside spread is 20 inches wide etc ,, another head mount for my wall these wall hangers are breaking my bank account LOL ,,, to all you HBC members shoot straight and be safe out there ..

PS I let this buck walk a few weeks back before I shot my buck I did shot him with my video camera ,,,,,,,, PS like I said before if you shoot a smaller buck or other and only have the one tag allowed for the area you hunt you won't be able to shoot a big one I held off and was rewarded believe me it was hard to hold out on not shooting other decent size WT bucks I saw earlier this hunting season LOL.
