How do you guys lock your trail cams to the trees to prevent theft? Or do you not bother and hope its far enough off the beaten path?

I have two cams so I picked up two 4' lengths of bulk chain from the hardware store. A two pack of locks and you are set. I attach the cams with straps and then wrap the chain tightly to the tree and lock it with the clasp on the cam. I sacrificed an old camo shirt and staple that to the tree to cover the chain, lock and straps. Maybe place some moss or sticks to provide more camo. Thats it. Secure as you can get with out someone cutting the tree down to steal your cam.
One tip I can give is when you wrap the camo cloth around the tree make sure it is super tight. If you wrap it around the top of the cam with any slack, the cloth can get soaked and droop over the cam or flash/sensor and render the cam useless.

Here is an example. I now use a camo pattern that matches the tree back more closely but you get the idea.

Bear cases and pythons...or the cheaper locks from PA, which work fine with the help of a little WD-40

on my homebrew, just a python

I have bear cases for all my cams and lock them all to tree with the sliding locks. Elk and bears are very hard on my cams, so the lock keeps the cam in place the cases protect the cam.

Here's mine. But now I put a heavy duty padlock instead of the smaller cable lock. The box is also lag bolted to the tree
