Finally got lucky with this guy yesterday. It was 2 hours of cat and mouse pushing him and his cows down the mountain, up the mountain and back down again. He finally made a mistake and let me close the distance enough so i could count 6, and take a 20 yard shot out on a little rock ledge. I hit him good in the lungs and it was an easy track to find him dead at the top of another steep rock ledge......i got very lucky, but it did make for a nice picture. I want to say thanks to my pro-packing team (Cody, Dad, Tom and even my wife Anne.......i think she was the only one that had the energy to make one more trip). Although he is a nice bull, i was suprised that a young bull like this was the herd bull of 7 cow/calves. I hunted three different locations hard in the WK since Sept.10th, and the one common theme on all of my trips was increased wolf sign and reduced elk/mule deer sign. It is amazing how their numbers have exploded around here in 3 short years.

yeah, nothing wrong with that, is the reason you are surprised simply because of his age? Seems to have a decent frame on that rack. Makes me jealous thats for sure

Great looking bull. Really like the dark antlers. Looks like he busted off a point on the right side. Is that from earlier? Or did he break it going down? Or did it simply not grow properly? Also wondering how you are able to determine the bulls age? Or is it just an educated guess based on his overall appearance

Nice Bull !!!!! I can't wait until next week when we head out for our goat/elk hunt it is going to be great, seeing nice animals like that just makes it harder for me to sleep for the next 6 days.

His 5th point on the right side looks like it was chipped off earlier in the season, but it doesn't look like it would have been more than 3" long. On his age, i judged him by the wear on his teeth and his smaller body frame.

Yeah......wolves were very vocal and not shy to make their approach on a couple different hunting groups that were in the same area.
