Looking for a little bump in the right direction for area 7-06. Had 7-06 as second choice and wouldn't you know it i got it instead. Problem is i havent hunted that area before. Not looking for scoop on your honey holes but would appreciate any good advice with regards to access routes, general area that we could explore and potential for deer encounters. Thanks........

Lots of hunters, get off the roads. Thick bush, bring pruning shears.

Haven't been there for a decade or so but saw moose throughout that area, but please be aware of MR. GRIZZ. I would see about 1 grizz for every 3 moose

Haven't seen too many deer out that way, but lots of moose and bears. Stoney Lake is a nice spot and definitely has moose around it. Most guys drive around looking at cutblocks (which while annoying, can be effective - especially for a new area), but I'd suggest looking for a water hole (swamp or creek) off the main roads and do some calling. Rut should get going soon.

if youre towing a trailer dont try to go to slender without scouting it out, you have to drive through a creek part way up the road. road past the lake is brushed right in also. stony lake campsites are pretty good but always have other hunters in them, south stony was starting to brush in last time i was out there. The back of the 2400rd has seen lots of logging the last few years...comes out on the barkerville highway. bowron fsr is generally in ok shape, was a washout the other year but i think its fixed now. X inifinity on the calling, lots of 7-06 is part of the old bowron cutblock and is extremely thick. odd deer out there but dont see them very often. lots of bears and wolves.

East Stony Lake campsite has a natural spring for drinking water

Also have a 7-06 draw. Heading up next Friday. Dragging a trailer so will have to be selective with the access roads..
Like the look of the east of Slender Lake.

We are dragging trailers too and access routes are my big concern because none of my party know that area at all.
