Anyone seen this before?

"Deer are also known to frequent gut piles and other animal remains and are often the first to show up at these sites. They then rummage through the mess looking for tasty treats. It is unknown if they seek out gut piles to eat the meat or simply the apples and other digested goodies laying about. As grisly as it may look, these methods may be tempting to deer during particularly harsh winters."

Interesting video. I was aware that whitetail will eat the odd small rainbow in the stream when the opportunity arises, but didn't know about birds or gut piles. Just goes to show, there's still lots to learn about wildlife. Thanks for the thread!

Lets just hope they don't develop a taste for human flesh or we'll all have to be more vigilant in the woods.

Deer would be the perfect killer. Think about it, they're quiet and the bucks grow spears out of their heads.

That's funny this thread should come up I found a deer bed with a piece of rabbit in it this weekend. I always thought there teeth were made for more than leaves and twigs

Strikes Me more like the deer is acting out of curiosity, And once he trapped the bird, chews on it as a natural reflex.
It is known that sometimes deer eat carrion, but is not common they will look meat or carrion over grass.

Nog, that last pic does it, I'm way undergunned with my 7mmRM. Anyone got a .577 T-rex for sale?
