Does anyone know if the Babine Lake bardge/ferry that runs out of Granisle is operating? I know they were running last fall when we were up that way for our moose draw in 7-27.

The current situation with the blockade of Leo Creek FSR by the F.N. is preventing us from accessing 7-27 via Fort St. James.

Any information on the status would be appreciated!

Hey there rider99 did you actually try and go through the blockade? We are on our way that way right now hopefully we can get past.

No we aren't planning to head up that way until the 29th. I heard of it on one of the threads here on Hunting BC, so not sure what the current situation is and if they are letting certain groups by? Let's hope they have taken their protests somewhere else by now...

Yeah one can only hope, I have heard there only blocking loggers. I will post on here tomorrow afternoon if we don't get through.

Good luck on your hunt!

if its work related from the licensee who operates the barge im sure they would let you on the barge, if not i dont think they will let you on the private barge just to hunt..

Barge usually runs mon - fri, the hours last I was there 6:00am to 4:30pm (last barge coming back over to the granisle side). Far as I know there should be no issues taking hunters across but I would highly recommend getting the proper radio channels when driving up those logging roads. They are not expecting a lot of traffic to be without one and the loggers really want to make that barge going across! Also some narrow sections and tight corners. Two other options you could use are taking the last barge across to the far side and then waiting until all the traffic has loaded the barge for granisle - this should mean that there would be no more logging trucks making the barge OR you could just following one of the trucks with a radio. I have driven this road a couple dozen times for work and had a couple exciting moments!

We took it last fall for our hunt up there, no issues at all! The schedule was starting to drop off in October but still running daily.

It depends on the mill activity. They start hauling next week so it should be open for some time
