I've loved bowhunting since the first time my dad took me with him elk hunting the lowland in the East Kootneys.
I bought myself a bow when I was 15, and I still have it and up until last Sunday still had yet to take my first animal with it.
The opening weekend of the archery I managed to head up past Pemberton and went for an amazing multiday hike but didn't see a thing. I was completely gambling on the area and I guess there is a possibility of it being good but I guess not at that time of year.
It was still totally worth it for the hike though, and a lot of fun.

Then last weekend I called up my bud who's working here from New Zealand and asked if he wanted to come tag along for another hunt. He doesn't have his licence here but he loves getting out.
Neither of us have a truck so we threw our stuff in his minivan and took off after work for Princeton.
After only seeing one doe up quite high and hiking back into the bush off the roads and not seeing any sign we decided to head down in elevation a bit.

We headed down and since I really don't know the area at all I was on google earth on my phone and just picked a nice looking field and we just quitely watched that for the evening. If we were duck hunting we could have limited out easy, and it was really cool to watch the hawks hunting the feild the whole evening but as far as deer....nothing. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after not seeing anything I was pretty discouraged.
We got back to the van that evening and drove to find a spot to camp for the evening, and consoled ourselves with some Mountain House therapy. (As a side note I just got the JetBoil, and it totally ROCKS!!!)
I had to be back in the LML for 3:00 Sunday afternoon and this was our last chance, but I was discouraged and all out of ideas of where to try. (We had already checked out all of my pre-trip google earth spots.) I just slept in and decided to just drive around for a couple hours and explore a bit before heading home.
We had hiked high and low two weekends in a row, hunting hard, not seeing anything and just seen this guy grazing by the side of the road lol!
Heres the YouTube link. The quality is poor but I thought it was cool that my buddy filmed it.

I may not have worked to hard for that deer but I sure worked hard for a deer the last two weeks and this was a real blessing!
