Once again family and friends are off for our now 5th annual camping trip for the Sept LWE. A day or two of scouting and then up at 4:30 Sunday AM

Get to our little spot and within 45min I busted a deer heading down the hill and right at us. Buckwheat had to wait a few minutes till he cleared the bushes and then bang.
Under an hour and this kids youth season is done forever!! He's 18 in February and will have to play by the big boy rules.

Then later in the evening we go visit the super nice framer we met last year with a very large alphalfa field. Elkhounds daughter and my daughter get set up on two different little spots anticipating the deep coming to the field in an hour or so. Poor Morgan heads of half way down the field and wouldn't you know it, the the first deer comes out 160 yards from us. Heather say's "get Morgan back here, it's her turn" Dave and Morgan hoof it back and get set up.
The first shot missed, but it's her first and it's a long shot. Second shot, he'd heading to the cooler.

Fantastic job by a little girl on her first deer, she overcame the running, the distance and buck fever. Congrats Morgan!!

Next day we head back to the same field after a nasty thunderstorm hoping more deer would be in the fields. There's was, but they were spread far and wide. Tried a sneak on three or four only to get busted and have them book it.

Finally with only 30 minutes of light left we got the opportunity we needed. Heathers third deer and hardest thus far.

You give new meaning to doing something "like a little girl". Hopefully I'm going to be able to hunt like a little girl in the upcoming weeks and be just as successful. Good job! talk about free range organic freezer fillers!

Now that they are done you need to shoot something besides paper with your safe queen. Out of the mouths of babes.:tongue:

Good job on all of your parts to have the kids experience success. I am envious.

Thanks all. I actually had to bribe Heather into staying an extra day and miss the first day of school. Don't know who her real Dad is LOL I'd have skipped the whole week. I'm just glad she got something or I'd be toast!!

One of my/our best hunts ever, surrounded by good friends, had good times and saw some good shooting.

It was a hell of a trip.

Morgan my 11yr old daughter got her first deer. A 4x2 mulie and a 200yrd shot (with a rest of course and the summer trips to the range to prepare helped a lot)

She had a very hard time controlling her breathing she was soooooo damn excited

Rifle was a Savage Axis with a youth stock in 7mm-08 and handloaded down so it doesnt make her cry like factory ammo does.

Mom and older sister are a tad jealous lol

A shoulder mount is in the works and a video which I will post when all done.

Next day and grin is still just as big
