Mods: If this is in the incorect place please move it, thanks.

Hey guys figured I'd create a brand new thread of this as things have changed so much.

Anyway http://wildboarcanada.ca has just gone live and is no longer just Saskatchewan but all of Canada for FREE. Let me know what you think I'm hoping the response will be good and get more users to the website.

Again this website is to track wild boars inside Canada, mainly alberta, sask, manatoba but they are in bc and most likely will end up being in other places aswell.

Feel free to use it as a hunting resource or mark down any sightings you get on trail cams or while you hunt.

Please give feedback as I love hearing from you guys.

Android app is live but I'm still working on the iphone app... Apple doesn't like speed when it comes to signing up apps for the app store so its taking awhile to get them approved.

Hey that'd be great, if you get the free app or go to the mobile page on your phone you can mark boars at your current location in seconds :)

Good to know people are checking the legal info. I'm sure if it was doing damage to your property you could get away with it... but according to fish and game it isn't legal in BC... YET. I can guarantee one day they will be a problem and I'm sure they will make it easier to hunt... if their smart.

Back in the 1980s, There were some in the Harrison and Columbia Valley areas. Believed to have escaped from a farm in Washington state. It was open season on them back then. We do not need those rototillers around here. They would do a lot of damage. One of my fathers friends was chase by one. He got away from it by climbing up on his car. It also had tusks. There used to be a wild boar ranch in Oliver B.C. The feed company that I used to work for sent truck loads of feed to the farm. It has been closed for a few years now.

I talked to an old timer up in mission, he said a long time ago (early 80's) they hunted them with dogs up Chehalis, Harrison areas?? He said they were released and started growing so these guys were OK'd to shoot every one they saw.. Could be an old tale, but he seemed to be telling the truth

I'm sure it was allowed in the past. I just know currently only an officer can put down a boar if they feel its threatening land/animals/people.

I asked the CO and MOE Brian Harris about wild pigs here in BC. Their reply...if you see them...shoot them !!! No tag needed and no closed season. They did not say anything about reporting it but I would.

I don't know why a CO would even be involved? The pigs aren't wildlife , they are livestock. It would be a civil matter if you shot one and the livestock owner got involved is what I suspect.

When it comes to these it can be iffy. I think there is a period where a farmer has to either shoot or round up the boars. After that they turn from runaway's to pests. I could be wrong but then again I'm going off what I've been told.

Hey guys quick reminder, we want you to post any sightings you see this hunting season of wild boar. It doesn't matter if you kill the thing, see it or just find tracks go to wildboarcanada.ca (http://wildboarcanada.ca) and mark them down

Thanks!
