Not for the deer opener in Region 3, Sept 1, today bow and youth and then the 10th gos 4 point mule bucks. Genteel men have started there en jines.
September first opener and the GOS on the tenth of Sept for mules check whitetail
Deer season is opening day of hunting season in Reg 3 Opening day! Deer.
.. Moose is a lil later . Moose rut is this month on the Sept 23 to Oct 12
Pre rut moose on the Sept 9 to 22, use calling method, cow or bull or lil of both.
During rut the calf call works good to bring a bull moose in. The bull thinks the calf is with mumma, and another bull is there scaring the lil calf and the calf is crying.
Bull comes in towards the call and you see the first movement and have prepared for the shot. When bull comes out BOOM! Touch Down.
Cow call is good too, the call that drives bulls wild, could be three bulls of different size and age coming in over a twelve hour period, stopping then walking slowly in to the lonely cow callin for him.
Region 3 and other regions that opened today, your in the game.

Moose rut here is Sept 23 to the peak October first, plateaus from 1st to 4th then begins to drop off a bit to the 8th then drops like a rock, drop it like it's hot.
Mule deer is October 23 to Nov 4th then evens out til the 13th and starts to drop big on the 25th of November. Over.
Jelly Rover in the Clover .. Region 3 mules and moose .. ruttin and struttin their junk

province wide the average moose rut is sept 28. That is the day. Pick the middle of the province or a wee bit north, then alter that date a bit when u head north or south accordingly. Pre rut is 7-10 days about...maybe? If you wanna hunt moose in the rut in the far north (yukon boarder), you wanna be on the ground around sept 13-21, if you wanna hunt in the interior around PG then 20-28 is perfect, kamloops is probably 27-Oct 5. The rut only lasts a couple days, with pre rut being most of the activity. 2nd rutt is the last week of october. We have 2 moose tags this year for my favorite spot in kamloops. I will be putting this on film, and attempting to get the bulls in tight with fake paddles and lots of calling. Hopefully I can get some good footage for HBC. Starting to get giddy :) I guess Jelvis wasn't that far off, but I think sept 13 is a bit early for our area

Very nice. Gonna be some good eats!

He has a nice 4 by 4 bull, 210 lbs at the butcher. Packed out the quarters, backstraps and tenderloins... Fairly low weight, but when you consider he left the ribs and spine... An hour hike one way back to the truck.... He is an animal... I would have built a fire and started bbq'ing with that far of a pack out...

Spotted turkeys and deer yesterday and deer today. Bush is dry and crackly here, so hard to sneak up - they are not responding to my calling so far.
I came with 25yrds of a wt in really thick brush today. Too thick to get a shot, and it flushed off pretty quick. Then the grouse started to flee... Chain reaction.

I got the scoop from my son this evening regarding his trip with grandpa. Turns out he got a couple of shots off at a 4 point with a drop tine, but didn't connect. He had passed on a spike earlier opening morning and saw a 3 point as well that didn't even give him the time of day! All in all it was a great trip for him and grandpa!
