Got a Bull moose shared hunt in 7-06. Looking at Stony Lake..Any of you guys know the road and access to the Forest Service campsites at Stony and could I get a 27 ft travel trailer in there on the roads?? Trying to figure out if the roads are passable for the trailer into that area if possible?

There are 4 campsites on stony lake and all have good access. The Road is a little rough on the north side of the lake, but you will be able to get your trailer in there.

I was in there 3 years ago. No problem for your trailer. The east site even has natural spring for drinking water.

Haven't been there in a while, but trust me when I say you will be one of MANY rolling roadbocks in the area. Blue tarp city!

roads are very ggod in there, backroads mapbook will get you there, hope you are good at calling, the area is thick and there aint much walking where you can see more than a few feet except in the cutblocks. lots of hunters there too. my tip would be to get off the roads where everybody is and look for likely calling spots.my experience there in the past was that the moose dont start moving around much until a week into october.

Thanks Curt, will do. Looking forward to getting out and away from most of the crowds. I have always had good success in calling moose. Got taught by a good teacher years ago and so far my efforts work well.
My wife looks at me strangely when I am practising!!! LOL
