I am planning our annual hunting trip for next season. We do not want to go back to the same area that we went too last year. We were thinking of either Fort St.John for Moose or Invermere for Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer.
What do you guys think? Where would you think you would want to go if you were going to try out a new spot? It does not have to be Fort St.John or Invermere, you can choose what ever area you would like. I'm just curious.

Onesock, I think shooting politicians is a great idea, but the problem you're going to find is, they're just not palitable, no mater what you season them with. I think you're going to open up the whole "trophy vs meat" hunting debate all over again.

LOL...

brotherjack I dont think we would open up another trophy vs meat as I dont like eating BS and I sure don't consider any of them trophy's.

Tuchodi, I think you're right. It's really a predator control issue, isn't it? My mistake. :)

Maybe somewhere in the eastern part of Region 5. I've never been there, only hunted near the Fraser river and west of there.

I've never hunted Region 4 either. Looks good, except for the price of gas.

well it sure has been a while since i've hunter the Tuchodi, my pops has an office in Ft. Nelson and he hunts the river quite a bit. I heard there was a small area that produced atleast 20 6pnt. bulls this year. Information coming from one of the guides up there and a family freind. Also would love to hunt sheet again near Ft. Nelson, it's always a cool trip especially when Caribou are running through the camp haha

It would be the muskwa river drainage for this cowboy ,that region has the biggest elk population in BC. hunter 1947.

Stave Lake slam dunk...

It's incredible there plus they have some nice hotels and at night you can catch a movie.

We went to the Western part of Region 5 last year. I wasn't overly impressed. Mind you we went really late in the year.

Straight west of Williams Lake, almost 1/2 way to Bella Coola, then straight south (see a Map). SE of Tatla Lake, in the bush, with horses and friends and possibly a helicopter back-up, just for ferrying luxuries!8-)

Onesock I thought you chose Victoria for cougar.

Want my elk draw and to spend time getting to know the future stomping grounds around Sayward. Probably start with bear this spring.

I still enjoy area 5 around 100 mile but I would like to spend one or two weeks in Clinton and Cache Creek. The scenery looks great and freinds always see plenty of game. The other area I like is the Princeton area. Tough to decide. I'll have to flip a coin when the time comes.

For me I would want to hunt somewhere totally different from where I always hunt and try a new species. So if I was from the south I would head to the northern parts of Regions 6 or 7. It is truly beautiful country and the hunting isn't half bad either! Since I have strictly hunted the last 10 years in the far north I wish to head as far away from home as possible and experience new adventures. If all works out I will spend two weeks this October deep in Region 4 for bighorn. If nothing else I should come home with plenty of photos and memories!

Lots of cougar in Victoria and there pretty tastey if you clean, prep'em and treat them right.

But seriously, Region 5 seemed to be pretty crowded with hunters and not overly great last season.

I have never hunted in REgion 4 and got an invite from an old timer to go on a MD, WT and ELK hunt there. I really like the terrain in the Kootenays and looking forward to spending sometime with a guy that knows the geography of the area well.

Have they installed traffic lights up at the Muskwa river junctions yet.

No traffic light's yet on the Muskwa but the Fish Cops and the RCMP sure like to put up road blocks. If anyone is going up there make sure you dont have any open beer or anything else in your boat. Last year they must of had 50 to 80 cases of beer and an assortment of other beverages stacked up on the shore. I only saw one block but I heard there were about 4 differant ones.

Africa all i have to say.

I would like to go to Africa too, but my budget won't allow that. Unfortunatly my budget is around $48,750 shy of being able to do that. Sooooo.....lets keep it to BC!

Anywhere up north where I would be able to encounter the bulk of the species in a two week period, regardless if I was able to take an animal or not. The experience would be priceless.
