Ah yes...the reason I no longer ride. Nice to see the driver and bear were OK.

I doubt the injuries at 100km/hr would be 40% less than 140km/hr. Yeah he was givin-er but at least he did it in a semi responsible way. No traffic around. Sadly though shit happens. Now if not for the camera, he'd likely not be in deep with the law!!.

Good thing he's going to be OK, but I have my doubts the bear got off as lucky. Just because he ran away doesn't mean he's fine. We've all seen "dead" bears run with holes in them.

Really??? 140 isn't that fast when you think that cruising speed on the hwy is around 120. There are jackass out there who go buy there first bike and within 2 hours are doing over 200 in shorts no shirt and flip-flops

Seems to me that he is still accelerating when he hits it, lucky for him he didn't hit the bear a few hundred meters down the road

140km/hr = about 87mph. The speed limit when I was growing up in Ontario on the major routes was 70mph. Everyone routinely drove 85mph all the time. I just can't drive 55! LOL

Looks like target fixation to me, a very common, and hard to fight sensation when riding. I really hope he was wearing all his gear. If you ride a real bike you understand the 140kph in a strait isn't fast at all. More like a nice, stable, cruising speed.

Helmet cams always seem to attract tragedy.

Wife and I hit a bear in Mt Robson park 3 summers ago on our bike. We were at highway speed and killed the bear ( medium sized) out right. I was off work 6 weeks she was OK. Bear had in for us ,every move I made he countered it until the end. 140 km on a bike is moving right along but not out of the way fast, most people cruise between 110 and 140 km/hr depending on their equipment. There is no speed slow enough when hitting animals on the road so we still run 110-120 on a well tuned Electra Glide . Chances of hitting an animal again are the same as before we hit the animal.

Bloody bear defense zealots....if 700lbs at 140km/h isn't enough to kill that bitty bear, my 12ga seems insufficient.

I need a RPG now it seems. :D

Guy was show boating and suffered a well deserved and cheap lesson IMO. Helmet cams are the no shirt/self pic on face book equivalent of the street bike world. Popped collar for this guy.

Interesting how they can seize the go-pro. Does that mean if my dash cam records a cop doing something illegal he can seize that too? Not saying what the rider was doing was right, but I find this interesting.
