Got DU newsletter yesterday and there was an article about migration map of recovered banded ducks. Some of you may have gotten it as well. Found it interesting and surprising. For BC it's about what you would expect, banded ducks from the province,territories and the prairies. No surprises. Washington state pretty much the same only a higher number of recovered bands. Stands to reason more hunters in the states. It's Oregon and California that I found surprising. Oregon had ducks recovered from Ontario and the St Lawerence. California had bands from Ontario,Quebec and even one from the coast of Labrador. I knew there was some east/west movement but not to this extent. I suppose if the Grand Slam for Ducks gets started this fall could add some species that occur on the east coast. You never know, still don't think a Black Duck turning up in BC is that far fetched of an idea.
