Was rather surprised to get a call from my mother in law awhile back, she asked me" What type of tree stand do you want for your birthday?" So it turns out she has friend who's a manager at Cabelas in Edmonton and he invited her to some special sale for friends and family so she decided to get me the best stand she could afford on sale. Now if it wasn't sweet enough that she bought me a tree stand for my birthday which is at the end of October, but it is also being delivered to my house by my brother in law on saturday just in time for the beginning of bow season. I'm not quite sure what she bought me, so it feels like Christmas and Hunting season's eve, anyway better make her proud and put one down from a tree in the first few weeks ;) Feeling very blessed. Being new to tree stand hunting any good tips( besides don't fall out of a tree) would be much appreciated.

So I went to help my brother in law move in to his new house last night( tree stand was in the moving truck) was the last thing to come out of the truck at 11pm so I didn't have a chance to set it up for this mornings hunt. Turned out she bought me an API Crusader Climbing stand, tested it out today and so far so good made it up a tree 20' and down again safely so no complaints so far. Had an awesome morning spot and stalk hunting though saw 9 deer in my secret spot, two nice bucks at 94 yards just couldn't close the gap. Going to try a tree stand hunt on a friends farm either tonight or a little later in the week.
