Does anyone know if there's someone in Dease Lake who rents canoes? If not, any other suggestions on where to rent one in the area in late September?

2 years ago Dease Crossing Resort was owned by a mining company. Do'nt remember seeing any rentals.

I think youre right, some Chinese fellas maybe. I think they might have still been doing cabin rentals though so maybe on the canoes?

Where are you going canoeing in late September? That's banjo country.

Dease River Crossing isn't open anymore. As others have said it was bought by a Chinese fellow a few years ago who's primary interest is mining. This year they've had a big "bankrupt" sign posted at the Crossing, but there still seems to be mining activity going on. Can't think of anywhere else to rent a canoe. Your best bet might be to rent one in Smithers if you're heading through there, but for the price you might be better of buying a cheap one off Kijiji or something.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll probably pick one up in Smithers when we drive through there on the way to our silent-and-stealthy-by-canoe moose hunt.

We just drove past Dease crossing and saw the bankrupt sign, the gate locked. Made me wonder where the jet boats put in that usually stay at the crossing? Up at the Lake or???
