newb question...

Was out climbing a fairly grown in cut block. Planted trees were all about 5-6 feet tall. While making my way to the top i started coming across what to me looked like beds. On my line up the block i came across 17-20 of these. Most looked like a cedar stump that had been kicked down flat. What i didnt come across was any deer crap. Was it likely these were beds or some other phenomenon? Do deer usually bed down within a cut block or more likely to bed within the trees?

That makes more sense, did see a pile of bear crap on the way out, and what I thought from a distance was a bear scratched up tree. Was in fact a torn apart standing stump that had been drilled hard by a wood pecker, you could see the trails inside. Well at least I know where to stake out for bear this fall.
