he was last seen uphill from barkley road so if anyone is out that way or feels like taking a quad for a nice ride, there are lots of trails out there and he really loves running with a quad. I will update this as often as need be as I know that the coyotes up there are thick and do hunt in packs.

My dog sitter was just in the process of moving when he took off, the area he is at is unfamiliar to him.
As for his I'd collar, I have not heard back yet as to him having it or not at the time he bolted

Breaking them from chasing animals you don't want them to like deer.

he was trained to blood and scent track both deer and bear for the purpose of finding them after being shot with my bow. at the time I got him I had lost 2 deer in a row and never before in my life had I ever lost an animal, I didn't ever plan on going after cats and he was always kept on a long lead while pursuing anything I had shot so he did exactly what he was trained to do. why she didn't have his collar on is beyond me.

Your friend / dog sitter that was "looking after" your dog when he took off should be the one person for sure out looking for him?? After all, he left on her watch......

On the up side, it's warm out, so all he needs is food and water at this time, if he has not been struck by a vehicle, fallen into a ravine, ledged out, or similar. Hopefully he is plain lost. Have you got peeps out searching or are you counting on him coming back on his own?

I hope you find him, it's a bad feeling I know.....one thing suggested to me, was to leave my jacket at the last spot we were at, so he could find my scent and in theory wait there for me.....never happened as luckily we found him before I was close to calling it quits for the night, we worked on trash breaking him very quicly after that.....good luck, hope you get your dog back

There is a good chance that he has been "taken in" somewhere in the vicinity. There are alway those that like a "free"dog. It would probably be in your best interests to go cruise the area yourself and the sooner the better.

been 2 weeks almost.
any sign?

being that he wasn't familiar with your friend's place, i'd think he headed for your last home.
heck, he might even be headed to where you are now. stranger things have happened.

hope all turns out well.

so far he has not turned up, i'm told that there has been ongoing calls to both the spca and the pound. posters where to placed at every set of mail boxes throughout the area. numerous hikes up and down the mountain including a tumble into a rivine resulting in a busted cel phone still have turned up nothing. i'm starting to believe either the yotes got him or someone has him in their house.

Just a thought, but maybe post lost adds on castanet and kijiji too, he might have covered a lot a territory before someone "rescued" him.

Just a thought, but maybe post lost adds on castanet and kijiji too, he might have covered a lot a territory before someone "rescued" him.Since he is a scent hound he could have tried to follow your scent and that could take him far from the area that he was boarding at.

Case in point. My Akita/Collie, cross after being purloined travelled 50km to end up at my son's new residence, a place that she had never been to. We presume she picked up our scent and followed it out. She was a sight hunter but we used to play a game where my wife would hold her in the house while I hid somewhere in the bush on the property or nearby hillside. The wife would turn her loose with the instruction to find "Dad". She was proficient.

It would be a good idea to contact the SPCA shelter in Kelowna with a picture description. Perhaps a reward too. I had a $200 reward for the return of mine and you can be assured it will generate interest. This was posted in the 200+ handbill that were distributed throughout the area. No one collected on mine, so I donated the reward to the local SPCA shelter.

Hoping for a happy resolution.

Any word on your dog?

Search wide and far.

Case in point, Toller stolen out of back yard in Calgary was turned in a few weeks later to a pound in WINNIPEG!! Good thing she was microchipped and the shelter scanned her for it.

Hope your dog turns up :icon_frow
