I watched when the camera turned from night to day then someone came and moved its view from the waterhole over to the left and zoomed in on the lions that were there. Then the camera was moved back to the water hole again.

I'm not sure how ethical it would be but it would be cool to have a wireless webcam of your favorite honey hole to watch at home anytime. I don't think think technology is there yet, would most likely require radio repeater or satellite infrastructure.

If you were too lazy to get out of be you'd have to watch someone else draggin a nice one out of your spot ;-)

Does anybody know exactly where this is located in Africa?
thanks Nkorho Pan is a natural water hole in the prestigious Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, in South Africa. Nkorho pan is named after Nkorho bush Lodge which gets it name from the Shangaan derivative for the call of the yellow-billed hornbill, a common and unusual looking bird from this area.

I see they changed the camera location this morning. It's now looking out over an opening with some grass huts in the background.

Nevermind....looks like they just had the camera spun around. I guess the watering hole sits right in front of a lodge or something.

There was a very large male lion when I checked it when it was first posted a few days ago, but I haven't seen anything since...

Edit- 15 secs later it rotated, now showing a large herd of gazelles and the lodge.

I attempted a screen capture but all that shows up in the bitmap is black inside windows media player. Maybe someone else knows how to make it work.

OK guys I've found a way to do a screen capture on the media player.

Here are the details:

So here is the free and simple way to capture Images from Windows Media Player

Open Window Media Player
Then go to Tools | Options
In Options, select the Performance Tab
Way below you click on the Advanced Button
Uncheck “Use Overlays’
Click Ok
And you are ready. Now run your movie in any size or screen resolution. Use the standard ‘Print Screen Key’ Method (http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/2005/03/capture-desktop-images-screenshots-in-one-click/) as described and you have captured a snapshot from your favourite movie on windows media player without using any special multimedia software. Enjoy!

Very cool. I haven't seen anything yet except a few flyby bugs.

I minimize the picture but leave the sound on. Sounds like I'm in the bush. If I hear something then I check the screen. My daughter was wondering were the sound of crickets was coming from. John

Just after I typed this I heard "slurp slurp slurp" and a hyena was having a drink.

Sun Jan 21 9am here... large herd of wildebeast in the field. Camera pans and focuses on movement. No skinny dippers yet... someone is messing with the focus and manually adjusting the settings now...

I was involved in a project similar to this with Lester B Pearson College out at Race Rocks near Victoria. We set up two remotely contolled controlled video cameras that can be controlled by users on the internet. Telus and Apple supplied equipment and my company LGS group managed the project and provided technical support. This was about 7 years ago. I'm not sure who is involved now but looks like they have five cameras. check it out and be sure to use camera 5 so you can pan and zoom in on the rocks to the north side of the main island... there are ab out a hundred SeaLions there right now... http://www.racerocks.com/racerock/video5remote.htm Often see Sea Lions, Seals, nesting gulls, very occassionally killer whales etc.

Here is another Africa Waterhole. 24 hours a day. I just watched a group of impala and various birds. Sometimes you just get a lot of bird noise. There is a 9 hour time difference.

http://www.wavelit.com/?ch=Wildlife&sh=africam

I went of Africa for the first time in 2006. What an incredible time! 7 animals on the way home fromthe South Africa taxidermist.
