Every year I help take a Sports Fishing Lodge up to Nesto Inlet inside of Hippa Island on the west side of the QC Islands, the lodge is a converted Tug boat (X-Kingcome) the trip is usually 3-4 days up and 1-2 days for setup and I'm fishing for 5 days then fly home, this year my daughter flew in for the first trip in June and the fishing was good but the weather was brutal,4-5 meter seas but she toughed it out and caught her limit of springs and coho as well as halibut, and never got seasick....what a trooper !
You fly out of the YVR South terminal on a charter flight to Sandspit then an awesome helicopter ride out to the lodge, here's some pictures of my daughter Lindsay

Sure glad your daughter didn't get your looks, leaving tomorrow D for the Hippa experience ,last year 2 x45.s so will be hard to beat.My 2 sons are coming this time so we will see how they are fishing "outside" and I will remind them how your'e daughter stuck it out.Weather looks good so will hopefully have a few pics to post after the weekend, what are those yellow eyes doing in you're pile you hate them ...Another thing you should mention D is that there are NO downriggers on those boats every fish is caught power mooching which is by far the most fun...:)

Yup Dutch we NEVER used a down rigger and the biggest weight we used was the 6 oz to do the Hippa Drop ! :-D We also draged some smaller herring at about 3.5-5 knots behind on the surface and caught a few Cohos on the surface - pretty neat watching them Attack the herring ! RJ

Hey Dutch, yes good point no downriggers and self guided...."NO GUIDES" .......well I guess I helped RJ a little !
yeh I sure take horrible photos....thanks for the reminder buddy, lots of big fish being caught M so should be able to take a run at those 45s......I prefer rockcod to those rubbery yelloweye anytime !

Make sure you offer Slimey Marty a side bet for cash.......tell him Slippery says your an easy target !
Good luck with your trip and we need pictures of those over 45lb Springs.

right on...its been years since I have been out to hippa, but close to there I caught a 190lb hali...we would always boat out there via rennell sound. Looks like fun. Whats that trip worth?

you could check out there website charlottequeenadventures.com, talk to Maddy,I know you won't find a better place to go fishing and you do your own thing...no guides.I think trips are quite reasonable right now !
There's also a youtube video staring myself of course that's a must see haha !

Fishing comes naturally to us Norwegians, its catching them one at a time that I thought I would never see us doing .

I'm planning on heading out to renell sound. Just wondering how the fishing is closer to the campground on those days a guy can't get out to open water. I see they are killing them up towards hippa. Is there a huge drop off for fishing if you stay in the sound? . Also is it worth bringing the crab traps and maybe buying a few prawn traps? I always have bad luck with crabs( itch itch)

Not sure on the fishing inside but I would work your way out until you find some decent amount of bait and start from there, from Kunakun Pt and in towards Seal inlet was very productive, and then the east side of Freeman's rock b4 it drops off into the sound lots of bait holding on the drop off and Spring fishing was crazy good.
Or run out to Conehead and try the south shore along the kelp and again watch for bait.
Hope this helps
