It's my fourth year hunting and the first year that I haven been successful in the LEH. I have been lucky enough to draw a Bull Moose for 5-13A for Sept 10-30. I have pretty much decided to hunt the last 10 days of the month, I would like to be able to hunt more but with the distance to travel and work, 10 days is all I can manage. I have been scouring google earth since the draw results came out and will continue to do so. Can anyone here with local knowledge of this MU provide a guy with a good place to set up a base camp? I am NOT asking anyone for honey holes or secret spots. I'm just looking for a good place to branch out from. Thanks to all in advance for your help.

It has been a while since I have been out on that side of the Fraser but check out Tzenzaicut Lake (Fish Lake ), there is a forestry camp site there

"check out Tzenzaicut Lake (Fish Lake ), there is a forestry camp site there"

Not your best bet, as fish lake is in 5-13-B and would require probably a 1/2 hour drive in the morning to get into 5-13 A. Your best bet is to follow the Lavington road straight out until you cross ramsey creek....this is the border between A and B. Once past the creek explore a few roads (6000, 6200, 62A) as there are plenty of gravel pits/camping spots along the roads out there. Lots of logging and new roads out that way in the last few years. If you find a spot to camp out there you could be into moose 30 seconds out of camp.

The moose numbers out there still seem to be holding well, you should have no trouble with 10 days to hunt.

Good Luck

Given the possibility of high temps. Can anyone recommend a place in Williams Lake to hang a moose?

Thx for the info. It looks like I may do this solo not something I really want to do. Usual hunting partner can't get the time off work and non hunting fishing buddies don't seem interested. Appreciate you taking the time help a guy out.

What are you going to be camping in?

I'll see if I can find a good campsite for you

Dexter, take Willyqbc's advice. He has carnal knowledge of the area. I would not worry too much about it being too warm. Evenings will be cool in that area even if the days are warm. Best bet would be to head to Quesnel if you topple a moose.

Another way to go is to go out to Nazko and go down the 4200 rd (3900 rd 24.5 km to the left). 4216 is were it changes to zone A. lots of places to camp. lots of really good moose swamps.
