Hey i have only ever driven through sparwood or elkford, but some how my buddy convinced me to put in for a LEH antlerless elk and i got it..
Fantastic. I am not going to be able to make the journey until we go hunt it.. i am not looking for a specifics , just where i should be looking to head there so i am not on private land , a logging road name or anything.. thanks for any advice.. If you are local i would gladly have a chat over some brews.

We are pretty good a going to places we have never been , last year we went up to fort st john, 16 hour drive with no destination, just 2 weeks worth of gear , and it was awesome.. I am hoping elkford will be the same.

Head north through Elkford up the valley. Plenty of areas through there

Your antlerless draw is for the low elevations, be careful, lots of hunters

And be aware of road closure areas, private property and what direction you are shooting. Tight area down there, fun to hike after the season is closed. And don't shoot a horse :)

All I can say for sure is book your hotel early !!
Dad had that draw a couple of years ago so w just headed out thinking there would be lots of rooms...WRONG.
We ended having to stay in Cranbrook.
That drive was short but still sucked.

So i have been looking at alot maps of 4-23A, reading info etc.. but still having a hard time telling what is private and what is not.
Where we should camp?
Do we need quads?
Any PM's would be appreciated.

Call the local CO asap for a list of locals who are willing to let you on their land.
He does have maps to give out so ask.
Both of these parties will be a good source of info.
Check out "The Hunter and Land Owner" Link.
