Fly in from Nimpo Lake, area North and west of Puntzi Lake. There is a cabin down near the lake that if no one using makes a good base camp. Hike up to alpine from there, lots of caribou and some dandy bulls. Not an easy hunt but well worth the efforts

I would love to get into the Itcha Mts if I was going on a Caribou trip and could afford that scale of trip. That is some wicked country. Don't know about the opportunities in those MUs though.

I live here and fly through that area by chopper ....last 2 years something has happened...had seen lots of caribou, seen some large trophies harvested..however last 2 years during the hunting season the caribou moved...last year the bulk of the herd by 20 airmiles...know one can explain and when the herd was located last fall..it was the last place they expected to find them...those who have hunted this herd confirmed these findings.....I personally feel the numbers are there ..just a change in location during the hunting season..why I don't know...

cheers

ooopsey......FROM WHAT I gather they were there and then they wernt...and when they were finally located 20 airmiles away...not even the first nations locally could find em...was unintentional that they were found..when they are up by and near the lake seems like lots 900 is the #s I heard in 2012...and after the season closes they herd up in the trees on a mtn..and really a treat to see....may even take a hunting trip in..

cheers

Dick lake!!

Definitely!

Why is it call "Dick Lake" again?!

Joking aside that is a deadly area, much like Blackfly Lake in mid-September.

If by Cassiar you mean Dease, then get in touch with Inland Air, or Ootsa Air. Both will be running beavers out of Dease Lake this year from what I know.

I love the look on your face here. I've been there, twice. Doing the walkup on a caribou way back from the lake and you're thinking, holy f*ck...I gotta pack this thing out now.

Lots of good caribou country in BC. Anywhere north of Telegraph and west of the trench pretty much has good bou hunting. Some areas are better than others, but good trophy animals can be found on most spots if you put the work in.

That is one pretty looking Caribou, I remember some one telling me Caribou were the same size as Mule Deer quickly realized that was hogwash when I walked up to my first one lying on the ground. Carrying my wife Bou out 2 years ago near killed me.

You have me a little concerned as I have a caribou/moose hunt booked for late September in the Itcha Mountains. Hopefully my outfitter will have them figured out by the time I get there.

Last year flying with Keith it sounded as tho he wasent outfitting anymore, only flying. Dident he sell out not to long ago?

Skull Hunter

That is correct, Keith sold his share in BCSafaris a few years ago. From what I've heard Ootsa Air will not be operating out of Dease this year, however Keith will do some flying at times for BCYukon Air which recently changed ownership as well.
