Interesting, but ineffective.

You can make them better. Use different size wooden dowels inside the PVC to increase draw weight.

Using sched 80 pvc instead of the sched 40 he used would increase the draw weight too, but you'd have to use a different approach to reinforce the ends for the string knotch. Glue unions cut down flush comes to mind, just not quite as streamlined.

I'd grab a saddle tee to make the arrow rest too, and attach it with just a couple dabs of cement.

I have made many better bows out of a piece of wood for zero dollars. I have made far better solid fibreglass bows for not much more than ten dollars worth of fibreglassing materials.

Fiber cloth should work. I backed mine with brown paper. Any type of wood glue or epoxy will strengthen the fibrous backing and keep the bow strong. I can't wait to hunt with it! It's awesome to shoot! Will post some pics later today or tomorrow.
Cheers!

Machine what did you back it with? You'll be able to add a few pounds with a strong backing. Also how long was the bow? You could also shorten the length to increase draw weight.

I used fiber cloth and added it before I cut and shaped the board, I don't think more backing would add Lbs 70" shortening it would but I'm happy with it. hope the wife will use it. it shoots quite nice, I'm working on my 2nd.
