northern BC grizz/blk bear hunt

well got back from a week up near yukon border grizzly and black bear hunting. Amazing trip!! over 3500km on jeep, 500 plus on quads!! quite the adventure, snow up high and in shaded spots still, 2 days made a difference of 6-8km more access on trails. Almost lost both quads down swollen creek, broke my winch on day 3 trying to get out/thru of snowy spot and lots of technical, not for weak or faint of heart quadding lol.

Saw 3 grizzly's, passed on them all....... if only i had it to do over again.. saw first 2 first night driving into our area on way to cabin after 15 hours driving.. caught off gaurd, whole week of hunting ahead and i mad ethe mistake of thinking they were small.... i have it all on video, but can only get pics to download. It was a Boar and Sow together (i realize this now..) they looked "leggy" to me at first, young... but after numerous views of video, numerous opinions... Boar would go 6 1/2 -7 and sow 6-6 1/2... would have made a nice first grizzly,,,hope that my control and patients pay off next year with a pig :) most first time grizz hunters would have blew their load on first bear lol. Also passed on a gorgeous 4-4 1/2 grizz, looked like a fluffy teddy bear lol.

Ended up taking a gorgeous chocolate black bear !! been wanting one and had to take it, only 5' 6" but the hide and color and exactly what i wanted. Great rip, memories and learning experince!! next year i hope to find the guy that made the paw print in the pic...... over 8 feet forsure, probably bigger!!

Good call passing ont those two. They look like 2 year old siblings to me. Grizzly bear hunting is a trophy hunt after all.

I woulda passed on them too; Nothing wrong with holding out! Good on ya.
Like the blackie and have only seen one that has come close to 6 feet, most are this size.

You learned lots on what to do and not to do when you go on your next grizzly bear hunt its call learning ,,that color bear has a very nice hide on it still is that a white patch I see on your bears chest ??? ,,congrats getting this color bear and thanks for sharing your hunt with us members..

Glad everone came home safe . Looks like a great trip ! Way to go on passing on the two grizzlies . Let them grow up . find him in ten year fifteen years :-)
