Not a giant, but my first animal harvested.I found this guy on a trail about 500 meters from my home, straight up the mountain. We met at about 30 meters ,and I killed him using a .308(Ruger Scout rifle)with iron sights. The bear seemed over-confident in the fading light,as I'm sure he saw me first, and didn't even flinch as I moved to aim at him.I hit him in the lungs and he died very fast,15 ft away from where he was hit.He measured 30 and a 1/2 inches around the neck. What a rush!Got him Thursday evening in a light rain.

(pics also include him(i think) on the tcam, and a blacktail spike for the heck of it.Tcam month is wrong, day and time is good).

Nicely done! Good looking bear. Now only a few months before you have to wait to go after the blacktail.

Good job! To bad bear hunting may be a thing of the past in Mission...

I got it in the last light of day,so I took what I could get.And I did try for some full shots, but iphone sux for night pics,so they were fuzzy.
