How far out of the LML do you need to go for good Grouse Hunting? Manning Park? Hope? Harrison Hot Springs? And Stick to the main roads or find FSRs?
New hunter here. Any help would be awesome!
Cheers!

East and North of Hope is where you'll start to see more "ditch chickens" But with that said, in 8 days in the woods thus far, I've only seen 4 birds. Not looking that good for fall.

I haven`t seen many here for the last 6 years ,I get more rabbits than grouse anymore.Besides,if I only see 3 or 4 all season I tend to let them walk.Although the guy behind me probably shot them.

seen ditch chicken at every place ive been to so far, had one scare crap out of me yesterday hiking up a mountain in back of mission
when their season opens look for the brown dead leaves on roads edge. they seem to like picking in that for food. every time i see one, its in that brown dead leaf stuff, i wished thy were open right now, that guy yesterday woulda at an arrow and been my camp dinner...lol

I've seen quite a few already this year up Squamish way. Last year was a poor season according to my own experience but early indications are good for this fall. Pick a road and put on some miles.

Ansile rd north- nicoamen mtn/ boston bar . Blue grouse as well. 3 years ago was the best grouse hunting ever had on that road. Saw 50-75 in the day. Last couple years have been signifigantly less but still come home with 4-7 or so on average 2hrs from cloverdale.

Hmmm.... 2hrs seems far to go just for grouse. How's it look for deer up there. I'm guessing that's what most do. Deer hunt and take Grouse on the side?

I saw 1 up in Squamish a couple weeks ago, any time I've seen one there's been 1 or 2 more around.

Remember that only a very small part of Manning is huntable.
