With deer, moose and elk it's pretty easy. Poke a hole in the hock, stuff a stick/log/pole through it and hoist it up.

How do you hang your bear though? I have usually just put a rope around each hind foot and lifted it up. This means that you can't remove the feet and accompanying hide while it's hanging. The thing that I don't like about this method is that the hair from the feet tends to come loose and get on the meat.

How do you do it?

My bears all get turned into ground product. Hanging is pretty well pointless in this case.

If I was to hang it, I would hang it whole so I could punch it (to soften the meat) like Rocky used to do when he was training.

He's going to get ground up but I just had to hang him up for the evening. I guess I can live with leaving him in socks for one night.

I ground skin mine, hang the 1/4s separately in the cooler or shed if cold enuff.

Each time is different, but my last one was skinned on the ground and the feet left on right up to the butchering step. The hairs don't slip much at all, especially as it's likely been in the cooler near freezing for a couple days.

i find hanging is too slow.
i prefer to shoot 'em dead.
and check the regs, i think only a couple states still allow hangin'.
