This past weekend we ran up to Oliver to visit/meet grandchild #2. So, as all the ladies hogged the child us boys decided to go for a hunt (our form of celebrating) Well we where heading up a local FSR to a off load area for the quads, when my son in laws truck stops and my step daughters boyfriend jumps out with gun in hand and starts running back down the road past me, as he passes me all he said was "F@#& you! I saw a bear" (our rules are you see it you get first shot at it)
Well I get out grab the old man and my step son, son in law and I follow the BF into the slash. he heads up behind a patch of trees and shrubs stocking the bear and I head around the other side of the patch waiting to hear a shot and expecting to see a bear come bolting outta the bush. A few minutes go by and I see the BF heading back around our side of the bush and I'm think did he loss it or is this brush thicker then we thought?
I decide to walk a little farther along the end of the bush and I don't get more then 20 feet when I spot the bear walking out of the trees...... Well I just grabbed the closest rest, put the iron on it and let the 330 grain HP fly.
The best part of all of this is I was shooting my dad's 1886 in 45-70 the gun is well other a hundred years old and my dad has been gone for almost three years now (this is way I call it the old man) so to shoot my first bear and to be able to share it with all guys in my family ment a lot to me.
(I'll post a pic if I can ever figure it out)
