Well we put five hard days in the mountains north of Revy trying to get my buddy`s Grizz. With no grizz spotted I manged to arrow my first archery animal other than rabbits and grouse.
we knew this bear was in the area from earlier stocks in the day. I had missed it, and had a stock where I couldnt get under 100 yards from it. So we backed off for a couple hours, and decided to walk the road below the cut block it was feeding in that evening. We expected about a km walk down that road to be in the area we had previously seen it in, but within 400 yard of walking we rounded the corner, and there it was. I originally ranged it at 30 yards, but after drawing on it, I felt that it was further. So I let un-drew it lol dont know what thats called... and re-ranged it. I guess I hit the corner of the side hill, because this time it ranged at 43 yards. This seemed more accurate so i settled the 40 yard pin, and let it fly. The Bear went less that 30 yards, and piled up as you see in this first pic.
I have passed on many bigger bears with my rifle, but to me its a trophy to take one like this with my bow. Next time it will be a pope and young!
cheers,
