New Guys Bear Camp

well havent posted here since i registered long ago. maybe its time to share.

my partner and i hit the bush for the long weekend for our bears. no success but close. still an awesome time...till sunday.
we had a bunch roll into camp friday evening all hammered already, they split up and one group camped at the lake and other group camped at other end of the campsite..so we were inbetween them. when i woke at 4 am they were still up and going at it. had a few fights amongst themselves and had their dog come in our camp and attack my buddies dog as ours was tied up. his wife had beat the dog with a broom to try and stop it, the owner came over and went off on her...not cool, second time this dog attacked another one.
then saturday afternoon as they wer still up and drinking and fighting, they decide bringing our rifles was a good idea. the guys at the lake were shooting something smaller like a 22 or smaller shot gun, now the upper camp decided to pull out a rifle to one up them..was alot larger. i heard shells going straight up though the tree`s. not good. this went on for a while. we had kids in camp with us...so did they but didnt seem to effect their lacking mentality.
anyways since we all figure its useless trying to reason with drunks that had already been fighting and being aggressive we decided to leave. my partner an i decided to just head home, we had been thier since thursdy evening, but my friends had just got their friday evening so lots of money and travel for an overnight, so they just moved to a diff location to camp.

the story to that bear stalk,

we were driving up the road an both looking out our own windows up and own the sides, came around this corner as i looked forward. there he i...big as the tracker. ive seen alot of bear, just not hunted till now. this was one of the biggest ive seen. it took up the whole 1 lane of the rod, all i could see from the back was a black round butt galloping up the road. and as a dumb new guy i yelled out probably to loud...BEAR!!. i figured my buddy had to still turn an focus where it was and stop the vehicle and get ready, so i just grabbed his rifle and the clip from the dash and jumped out, trying to load this clip isn the easiest task...as i was doing this he bolted on the embankment to our left, i figured the clip was in now right as it came back up....what??..thank you bears gods...lol. he was a monster, he turned to his let an ran up about 20 foot or so and turned to the bank again and stopped total broadside and looked right at me, as i raise the rifle to take the shot the dam clip drops out...oh my god...nooooo!!!, hes till staring at me to..i picked it up and the shells had slid forward and saw bits of gravel in it, so as its not my rifle and being nooby i handed off to my partner ho was net to me now. i felt he knew his gun an how to use it better than i did so had a better hand of getting the shot of still. as he got it all set again the bear bolted don the hill...time to stalk it and see if w can get a shot of it going through the cut on the other side where it was heading...not a sign of it on the other side. just vanished.

wow what a rush.. ive been out almost every weekend since opening day and this was hand down the best trip so far. first bear weve seen so far to. verry minimal signs out there. we saw more moose sign there than anything.
our other crew that was with us also saw a phase bear within an hour or so in the general erea as well, tried a call and it spooked an gone

ya on our last day we figured where we would have focused, next time, to bad we had the issues in camp to have to leave early

Cool that you guys saw one! I was out that way all weekend and saw nothing. Lots of deer, even a moose but no bears...

ya we saw 1 moose finaly after seeing sign all over for them, was crazzy amount of moose poo and track, saw lots of big deer to. i think i spotted total about 7 or 8 bear pooh signs, and the 1 tree one had climbed and the 1 print in mud that was right at my camp, it came in late eve or early morning, my view was next time i wont do so much road work now i see where to go. time to sit up in the aspen tree and wait.

ive been going there for 3 or 4 years now and this is my first bad exp. usualy we are only ones camped on may long. just day trippers to fish usualy. thiers so much area to camp though i wont stay at camp next time
