How wide in inches = rough footage length.

Look for one wider than OJ's knife.

You guys hunting bears with that knife!?! :) as said, front track width in inches is roughy how long the bear is in feet. Roughly...(that rule goes for shit when they get really big). Either way, it will let you know if you have a shooter or not.

Track appears small but then again you need to take into account how hard the dirt is

Carnivore King

It ended up measuring 87" or 7'3" tip of nose to tip of tail. Layed out not pulling on the nose or tail.(skinned out)

That sucker was noze to tail 87 inches, weighed 225 lbs on the hook at the butchers! The noze to tail measurement was done as it was laying rugged out. I couldn't believe the size of its head, freakin huge!! Really good shape too, 4" of fat still!! A fun day for sure. Good shootin Carnivore King!! Moosin

That's a monster for an interior bear!! I would not have guessed it by looking at the pics.

Congrats to the whole crew. Happy ride home for sure! And you got him just in time to save a few moose calves to. You deserve a Bull LEH for your troubles.

congradulations..nice bear for sure..looking at the front elbows..as big below as above..stovepipe arms...good bear, head looks wide with ears off the side... photos of the big front paw ..good indication of a big bear, coat looks great... on these bears that get over 6 1/2 feet you do notice the stretched out body...bears 5-6 feet all look the same ratio length looks short and squat..

SO did you measure the tracks??I take the front width of the tracks...example 6 " width... add 1 and change to feet... 7 foot bear...

well done

I take the front width of the tracks...example 6 " width... add 1 and change to feet... 7 foot bear...

That's how I judge a track too.

But I measure 'em with the hide on.
That way you now exactly what it is.

Rug or what? Any bear dried over 19 is incredible. 20 not many people will ever make. 21 dry is the magic number. You might want to beetle it.

I am pretty sure the paw you are holding up is 6" wide, the print on the ground is no more the 4" with tiny toes? I have my doubts it is the same bear.
The dead bear is a pig, good going!!!

hard to judge track size from an unknown knife size..in comparison..I measure the track in ground that's not snow..ie melted out..or mud squished out...no doubt that's a fine bear..and your taxidermist is going to be so please you rolled it in straw and grass...lol

congradulations well done..a fine bear
tracks are sooooo over rated and make poor soup...
