West Harrison?

I was up west Harrison two weeks ago looking for a spring black bear but sawnothing! not even any scat. Am I too early? Is it just a bad location? I went as far as 20 mile bay and checked out a bunch of small side roads. Should I just start to look else where?

There has been a LOT of clear cutting up there in recent months

I was up there in October, saw a nice young bear and lots of scat everywhere by a small river.
north, north west.
Mind you it was a different time and I wasn't hunting.

Middle of may they will be there.

Remember there are a few grizzles up in that area. I used to hunt a road that was northwest of 20 mile bay. lots of black tails and a few bears. Keep looking. early morning and late evening.

Try east Harrison to, mid may would be the time to go, but this weather will really help them bugger start move, just keep at it they are there,
