Not an option for this guy! But ya, I'm guessing southern stuff will obviously be melting faster. Hell, I've almost got to mow my lawn down here in Cranbrook!

Snow down low here in terrace has been non existent for awhile now. Seen my first two bears in the area on Saturday. Just can't shoot off of highway 16 or I'd have one in the freezer now.

Seen a couple little guys near prince a couple weekends ago

Had a bear[s] in my garbage, just below Cranbrook Hill, here in PG. Probably the same two that were still wandering around late December, last year.

Flew home today, from south, with very clear conditions and lot's of snow free areas.

Drove SW of PG today (Pelican/Batnuni/Blackwater) and saw 2 small bears. They are out.

Question: One of them was right at the Blackwater campsite. He was on the other side of the tree with the "MU 7-11" sign. If I had gotten out and shot him, with me in region 5 and him in region 7, what notch would I cut on the tag???

Also saw 2 moose, 1 wolf, 1 lynx, 6 or 8 grouse, and 4 mule deer. (OK the deer were all back on pavement, 3 in city limits, but still...) Good day for wildlife spotting.

I'm sure you'd have to tag him in region 7 as that's where the bear was

When you say north of terrace, do you mean north of the town of Terrace or some local (PG) spot called terrace?

Watchin TV last night and I look out my front window to see a 6ft huss in my front yard. There is a hump of exposed dirt with snow covering the rest of my front yard. He was lookin for any groceries he could find on that. I nicknamed him "rug" and he entertained me for a half hour before he wandered off. I just recently moved to a new shack on the Chief Lk rd and its good to see I have buddies.

2 were total hogs, 1 of which was on private land 500 or so yards away and a damn good sized and the other wouldnt give me shot with my bow, he was short but stalky ... 1 was mediocre sized, my buddy that I was with woulda shot it had he provided a good opportunity through the scrub, the other 2 were just young uns that I wouldnt even consider cutting a tag on ... maybe if they were the right color ;)

I see bears every time I go out, but mostly the back end of a lot of bears disappearing into the timber. Is there some trick to not scare them off the road? Maybe use something quieter like a mountain bike? Or find a completely different type of terrain where you can sit and glass?

Or is it just because I've been going to relatively busy areas (Salmon) and the bears are on alert?

Saw seven black bears Sunday evening east of town. Still early, not much green to really hold them to a spot yet. Can't get far off road, anywhere the sun doesn't hit all day.

Give it a week or two for lot's of roadside sightings. If you can't wait, hit those low elevation, south facing humps that green up fast. Walk the tracks along the Fraser, but get off when you hear the train. Like 30 yards or so, don't need to be charged with trespassing.
