Looking at getting a new backpack stove to replace the very old Coleman Peak 1.

I have been looking at the Jetboil and found that Primus makes one as well, called the ETA Solo. It has a few "extra's" over the Jetboil and it is cheaper to buy.

Any experiences?? Why one over the other??

Cheers

I looked at the ETA last fall, when I was in the market for a new backpack stove. Can't remember exactly why I voted against it and opted for the JB Sol(Aluminum), but I am not disappointed in my choice thus far. I've boiled about 50 liters so far, without a single hitch in start up or boil time, save for the last pot before the canister is empty, but that's hardly a bitch.

Will add though, that I looked hard at the Ti and Al version of the Sol, and when you compare apples to apples the Ti is only about 1oz lighter for a $30 price increase. For me it wasn't worth it, especially after seeing a few failure pics posted online, where the Ti seperated from the Al, due to the different heating/cooling properties of the 2 metals...

I like the looks of the 351021 because of the wind block and stability of having the canister on the side. I haven't seen it available anywhere yet. and it is a 1.8L pot so not as compact etc. They also appear to come with good accessories (plastic bowl lines the pot to protect it when packing, case etc.) The Solo doesn't seem to have any great advantages over JB...

i bought a jet boil last year and took it on a two week pack in the mountains last fall--It is clearly the best back pack stove I've had, and used 1/2 the fuel of my son's stove, which I believe is a primus

I like the new ETAexpress (P-353093) as it is an all in one with a lower to ground set up. Too bad the only place i can find it so far is at MEC. Tried to order it direct from Primus and they want $200 to ship it:confused::cry:.

Will keep looking.

Thanks guys

Sitkaspruce try these people. http://skyview.myshopify.com/ I have bought quite a few things from them and they are very reasonable. And they will price match. I didn't see it on their site but I am sure they can order it.
