Whitetails?

I haven't seen many posts on whitetails here. I'm guessing whitetails aren't nearly as popular with everything else you folks have to hunt up your way, but I love hunting whitetails and always kind of thought B.C. was probably a sleeper spot for big whitetails. I'd love to see some photos of some of the bucks you guys (and gals) are hiding up your way. :wink:

While not one of the prairie provinces, BC has been know to produce the occasional good whitetail.

Beautiful whitetail and nice looking country, I shot a couple of whitetail bucks on the same trip back in 91 I believe(you were allowed two at the time) No where near as nice as the three pictured above, in fact one of them only had one antler. In recent years I have been hunting in region 3 and have seen some but they seem to be in pockets here and there. I will stil get a whitetail tag this year, you never know. Cheers Roscoe

We have some nice bucks here in Montana, but generally speaking our top end bucks don't compare with those you all take north of the border.....Once in a while, but for every really big buck killed here probably 50 are killed north of us.

So, in the five years I've lived around 100 Mile House I have seen a grand total of 8 white-tails in the area. 2 years ago I did see one very nice 8 point WT on three different occasions though, he got my curiosity about white-tails piqued. I understand from local wisdom that white-tails here live in pockets, and true enough 6 of the 8 WT I've seen have been within about 15 km2. Would I be crazy to even try looking for a WT with such low densities? What sort of habitat traits do you guys look for?

I believe there are quality deer here as well not just the prairies its just tougher to hunt them here. Love to see the quality BC bucks!!

Lol I lucked out on mine, was on a weekend hunt my first season and it was starting to get dark, so we were kind of road hunting our way back to the motel haha and I spotted him off the side of the fsr with a few does, hit him with some buckshot and down he went, not a lot of skill but ill take being lucky.
