Shed hunting in the Hedley / Princeton area.

I'm new to this game....

Does anyone have any hints or pointers they could PM me?
I've already put over 100km's on my boots according to my GPS but have found nothing.
Obviously I'm looking in the wrong areas.
Do elk and deer shed at certain elevations?

I know it's a little late in the season to still find quality but it gets me out and in the hills...

Now is a great time to start! Try any south facing slopes. I have had most my finds between 400-1000 meters.

Thanks, I'll be going back out this evening and will be giving that a shot. The elevation I've been working seems right, the highest I've been is 1240 meters but mostly around the 800 mark

Try the slopes between stemwinder and Hedley I've found numerous ther in the fall a number of years ago... South slopes of course

Still no luck, but found a bunch of new snow this morning.... Blah

similkimeen is dry country..deer can winter pretty high...4000-5000 feet.

A few miles before you come to Hedley from the Princeton side there is a logging rd that heads off to your left called sterling creek fsr take this road drive up to your first road that heads off to your left this left side rd is about 5k up sterling creek fsr,,turn left on this side rd head on up to the top any of these top side hills holds mule deer sheds the elevation is around 4000 to 5000 feet look on the south facing slops for sheds ,,,no elk or WT are in this area at lest not back when I hunted the area 20 years ago ,I found some big mule deer sheds when I hunted this area back then..

Thanks Guys, tried Stemwinder area with no luck and have been all around sterling main....I will check out the side roads this week.
There has been lots of sign of elk further up Sterling main, trying to find them has proven to be a chore....

up the other direction, we saw elk up placer mountain road in january. about 12k from the highway. hoping to get up there this summer to look for sheds but have at 'er if you beat me to it.

Darcy mtn use to be a good place to hunt, but it gets so much pressure now. I haven't hunted it for a while now but use to get some nice ones off of Darcy.

Yeah they use to winter pretty much at the base of Darcy, but now that herd winters more east.

24 sheds in a day is good, no matter what age. keep that place quiet and you will find more one day.

I haven't found a single shed from this year and all of the old ones I have found are so far gone they aren't worth picking up.
I took some pics and will try posting them tonight.
I did however come face to face with a big blackie. Will post a pic also

Keep at your shed hunting one day you will find what you are looking for ,,looking forward to seeing your pictures ,,Note some days I will put on 12 hours shed hunting cover 15k and come up with nothing so don't let it get to you look at it this way at least you are finding older sheds and I am sure that there are fresh sheds somewhere in the area you are looking ,,good luck shedding..
