Hey guys,
Quick question. Just about to pick up a 12 ft Aluminium and 15hp motor. It does not come with an electric trolling motor so I gotta buy one.
Any recomendations for a 12 ft? Brands of motors? LBS of thrust?
Which battery is the best to hold a long charge?
As always, price and quality are being considered.
Thanks for the help.

I've heard great things about the costco kirkland batteries, make sure you have a good charger, there is one made my schumacher for about 100-150, I've seen them at walmart actually
you want a true deep cell battery
where do you plan to fish? are you using the trolling motor in any rivers? for a 12' tinny a 55lb thrust would do you fine, lots of options out there from a couple hundred to 500+...I've always done well with minn kota

I've owned 3 of them - most important feature to me was the variable speed control, rather than set speeds. With the set speed models, I could never get the slow trolling speed just right. I wouldn't buy another one without variable speed.

Not only variable speed but also electronic variable. Uses less battery power. Minn Kota makes some good ones.
