Well a few of us from various teams are heading to the Thirsty Duck to bs and knock back a couple cold ones tonight. Anyone is welcome. We'll be there arond 7.

As for names for Team #5.....Gobbler Clobberers? Say it loud 'n fast and it almost sounds like a gobble.

Too much thinking - made me thirsty.

BIRD DOWN.

Got my first turkey this morning at 7:00. He didn't come in the way we thought he would but still got him after a long hike and reset. Once we closed into 100 yards he came running in only stopping to show off and strut his stuff. When he finally gave me somewhat of a clear shot (only three bushes in the way) at 30 yards I gave him both barrels from my 20 gauge side by side.

He weighs 17 lbs 3.2 oz. Left spur 1", right 9/16". Beard 9.25". SCORE 51.325

I want to thank my husband, Nick (BCBrez) for the time he put in to find this bird and for calling it for me, I couldn't have done it without him. As rewarding as it was getting my first turkey it was made even better when I saw how happy and proud Nick was.

All that aside, go team #5. BCBrez your going down, hahhahahaha.

I'm good with "BTD"
Just finished helping a couple of buddies from the lml get theirs. One guy connected on a real beaut yesterday, and the other guy got his this morning. I had a chance at one while he was shooting his but the tom somehow spotted me and just stuck his head up over the bank. No shot for my recurve. had him come back and as I snuck up, the tom I didn't see caught me in the open and flew away and so did "mine". I may have to get out the 12 guage. gotta say that this is the toughest year I've seen to find a turkey. We put on a LOT of miles.

Well back at home and here is th e story.
Opening morning comes and we find ourselves back at the truck by noon - I never heard or saw a bird and was a little disappointed. Last year, we ran into multiple birds but just never closed the deal. Now it was time to touch base, have a quick bite and form a new game plan.
We finished our lunch and started packing everything up when I heard a faint gobble down by the creek. I turned to Duck and asked if he had heard that and right when I said it, another much louder gobble occurred. I knew he heard that one and we grabbed our gear.
He headed down the ridge towards the creek to setup his decoys and call and I moved up the ridge and then cut down towards the creek when I figured I was in-line with the tom. Another gobble confirmed he was close by and on the path I was hoping. Duck was hen calling and had not only my tom going but a jake with it as well. It was quite the show to hear them going on back and forth.
I finally saw movement off to my front and froze. It was 30 yards away and he was unaware of my presence. I slowly lifted my 12 gauge and took aim at a spot I hoped he would go through. Sure enough he emerged at 25 yards - his head was turned back so there was not a shot yet. I think I actually prayed for him to turn his head around. Two seconds later, head turns and the old savage barks once more.
Measurements:
17lbs 1oz
Right Spur: 5/8 inch
Left Spur: ¾ inch
Beard: 8 inches
Score: 46.8125

'Morning everyone. Sun is just cresting the mtns and I'm home with my tom. Got him half an hour ago. Had gone to my "A" spot and called for almost an hour to no avail. Was driving down a little road to my "B" spot and saw this guy in full strut 30 yds out the passenger window. No way he'd let me get out and shoot, but I had to try. He wasn't as smart as I thought.
18.8 lbs; 8" even on the beard; both spurs 10/16".
I'll take it.
pics to follow

Yeah, like I said, it's been 30 years andbut the time I make up my mind, new stuff is out and It has to go back to the planning dept. my wife has been good, actually. Even the kids and my mom have given up. The neighbour doesn't miss a chance at a barb or two.
my credo: If the roof don't leak, there's heat when it's cold, and food in the fridge - good to go!

Last minute bird (while actually last weekend)
Its the smallest bird I ever shot
14 lbs 8 oz
ight spur - 1/2"
Left spur - 3/8"
Beard = 3 1/8"

Working on getting the picture up. Everytime I try it says I've exceeded my quota. Its not a great pic as I forgot to take one before I started breasting the bird!!!
