Went out chasing cats the other day, and managed to tree one. It wasn't a big cat, but it's always exciting just to see one.
Anyway, here are a few pics, not great quality but they'll do.http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q223/mikeb04/100_1180.jpg

Looks like a good size to me, was it a female- is that why you did not kill it?

Great pics! Thanks for sharing! Looks like about a 3 year old female to me. Pursuit of cats is as much fun as shooting them...if you don't want an $800 taxidermy bill and ya have a cat on the wall already, may as well let it go unless it's a trophy sized cat. The Kootenay seasons are also on a female quota system.

I think it depends on the dogs, the terrain, and the conditions. But if you cut a fresh track with good dogs you're looking at really high success rate. It should be 100% success.

I dont think even Del Cameron would make that statement

I can promise you that every houndsman has followed a dead track at one time or another.
I would say it is more a matter of a cat deciding to go to tree and staying there.

whos hounds did you go with?

Well 100% is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's pretty close as far as I know. But I'm certainly no expert on chasing cats, one day hopefully...
