Anyone know roughly ROUGHLY what you'd expect to pay to get a black bear rug with the head snarling made ?

Juuust daydreaming about this coming weekend, going to go explore south of Merrit or perhaps up in Tunkwa area and look for a new rug  And meat of course!

Any recommendations on area would be great, I saw a couple this fall but not in any particular concentration.. Just going to look for some nice big one green areas and then get walking.

IIRC your looking at $200 or so a linear foot. 6' bear will set you back $1200 or more dependent on how you want it prepped. I've got a 6ft chocolate and when it comes to taxidermy, the old adage "you get what you pay for" is never more true.

Yup. Depends on if you take it to him to skin, how its fleshed, any repairs, open/closed mouth, type of underlay....best is to not go by price, but go by quality of work...shop around... Steelco is bang on with the 'get what you pay for'.

I used Larry of Chilcotin Taxidermy in 100 Mile House for my bear, $1000.00 and an awesome job

If you shop around hard enough you can probably find a guy that will do it for 500 bucks.
Just be sure you know what to expect back...

Still lots of snow in the Kamloops area may be hard pressed to find some green areas in the Greenstone and Tunkwa areas... Even closer to town where it has greened up you can get into snow real quick and I haven't seen a lot of bear sign yet.

Of the bear or Larry? LOL,,,,Yes pm me an email address and I'll take one tomorrow, had to yank ur chain a bit though.
Do yourself a favour and dont go to a cheap guy, hair slipping isnt going to make you happy. I had a buddy in Ontario that found a guy that would do a rug for $500.00 and it is now bald.
