Just picked up a vortex diamondback to upgrade the bushnell paper weight I previously had, now I'm curious as to what distance I should site in at, I'm not the type to try to make a 600 yard shot or anything fancy, it's mounted on a .308 savage and I generally shoot 150 grain blue box federal ammo, any tips or techniques are much appreciated.

Try playing with this to see what yardage to site your scope for http://www.shooterscalculator.com/point-blank-range.php

Depends what type of hunting you want to do.

I think most people sight in for 100 yards, 1-2" high.

I like a 200 yd zero, depending on bullet will put you 2.5 to 3" high at 100yds. working from 200 yd zero makes range calculations easier.

200m for me in .308 with a 3-9 power. At 2600fps MV, the trajctory at 100m will be 1.5" high, while bullet drop at 300m with a 168gr SPBT will be 8.5". Manageable math, even for the infantry!
