Hi Guys,

I am eager to get to do some hiking and just wondering if anyone has seen any sign of bears in the quesnel or pg area. I know that the best time is first week of may usually but I want to get out and enjoy some new toys. thanks guys

Ya I'd say it would be a low odds hunt at the moment. Any road that hasn't been plowed this winter, you'll be hiking in a foot or two of snow...

I'm in pg. going out this Sunday to have a look. Not sure they will be out quite yet but will keep you posted if you want.

MAYBE down south of Quesnel. Forget it up here in PG. Wait a month.

They're not out yet. Nothing greening up on the few bare south slopes that i've come across at work.

as mentioned, if the road was not ploughed over the winter, your not getting there. I was from Quesnel Lake to Mcleese Lake on Wed and it is all the same, lots of snow left.

Hahahaha, that is awesome! Had one of my loggers tell me that they had some government officials visit their block the other day, while talking with them the logger noticed a black spot in the top of one of the trees on the boundary! Needles to say he freaked out and managed to hide the bear from the officials. As soon as they left the bear started balling in the tree. The buncherman managed to cut the tree down and lay it down smooth and the bear ran back into it's den! Wish I coulda seen that!

haha that woulda been sweet to see. this time of year bears can be extremely dosile and easy to make stocks on.
Ive heard about fallers in the old days dropping big trees that tended to be hollow in the middle and bears come crawling out of them after they hit the ground- that would sure wake ya up from a good long sleep.

Still some snow out there, but I heard a sow and cub were spotted just north of town. I haven't made it out yet, but sure am itching to go.
