Hey guys and gals, I'm headed out for a day trip tomorrow and am looking for a little input.
I have a few areas near Boston Bar that I've always seen bears in the fall, but haven't been there in the spring before. I'm assuming that if they're there in the fall, they will most likely be there in the spring

My buddy wants to go to Harrison west, up in the hills, but he's concerned about the snow level. Any tips on the area?

Thanks,
Alan

At this point your best hope is closer to sea level. Pretty early in the season, but not impossible. Nothing green yet at high elevations = no bears there.

Harrison is your best hope.

Big Bore is right. I haven't even seen any sign yet around Deroche. Lots of coyotes though. Boston Bar would be iffy .

I saw a HUGE blackie last Friday in a green space right behind some houses right in Mission (Do not hunt there!!!!) It was 2 blocks North up from the Lougheed and Cedar Valley.

Stay low and away from fishy rivers

Not any where close to your area you hope to hunt but I did see one today 25km east of Mcbride on my way back from Calgary

Anyone been up harrison or chwk valley way recently? I know the snow line came down quite a bit over the weekend. Might go for a little hike in one of those areas this weekend, wanted to see if anyone had been seeing any activity.

I was up there shooting on the weekend on Saturday, didn't have the gps to look at the elevation. It looked around 100 ft lower than the weekend before.

I was walking the dogs up the Squamish FSR a few days before the season opened and saw a nice bear. He was hiding when I went back with a rifle and a tag on Sunday.

Snowline is low up this way but there is still lots of good terrain. Road access on the Ashlu is blocked by a big slide before the Hydro dam.

Went to the farm on sunday. No sign of bears. Saw one huge garter snake. I didn't think it was warm enough for them yet.

I saw 3 bears Saturdays around 3 PM, in Port Coquitlam, near Minnekhada Park, on a farm land. Everybody was stopping and taking pictures, as they where feeding 30-40 meters from the road.
Unfortunately no one had a rifle and a tag :-D.
