He 'has' 5 up top and a big brow before the rodents hit it. The main beam,girth is unreal. The shed is the 160" class blacktail ( and not prime yet 2 years ago) so imagine the size/weight of the non typ. I have a pic of a monster buck with similar antler from 400 yrds where I found the 'club'.

the nontyp has 8.5" around the knurl , 6" base , 5" all the way to the end of main beam...crazy..the typ has a 4 3/4" base.

Yup , its 'him'. On my 4th year coming up. He wasnt 'prime' when he grew those and they push 160 class...hes bigger now..:shock:..last Nov was the first time we looked at each other...enough to make a guy insane.
Now the non typ.....jeezuz...might scream a bit looking at that thing alive.

Great looking buck Steve congrats on the pair, snows a bit deep up here for good shed hunting. Some of the bluffs and river banks are open now so it wont be long. I hope. Nice BT sheds keep up the good work I am enjoying the pictures.

Steve thats a dandy set of mainland deer sheds way to go on being persistence on finding the other side I know how much this would mean to any shed hunter them sheds came off a hog of a buck hope you get a chance on lining up on this buck that cast these sheds this falls hunting season ,,what do you guess on these sheds you found ???.

For the curious , the non typ has a main beam that measures 13" from base to beginning of splits to points. The main girth starts at 6.5" base and carries to 5" above brow , then caries to 5.5" the whole way up...its crazy.

The typ has only 7" of main beam from base to beginning of fork.....what a buck the non typ must have been. I'm not motivated by 'the book' but more the challenge of harvesting something so rare and elusive. My attention is swinging to the monster non typ , or his offspring anyway....just imagine what that must look like live....crazy.

I'm so scared to think that things could go the way of the sunshine coast and come down to one tag. Hunting blacktail just wouldn't be the same with just one tag. Learned a few years back to always carry that second tag or live with regret.

No shit ! Fortunately we have a good load of snow yet. I have a good idea where the non typ from my cam dropped. I have one more 'hill' to look over and see who 'made it'. I cant believe I pulled the pair of typs with no chewing on them !!! WTF??!! lol
Rick Gander was over this am ( Gander Taxidemy) and was drooling over the new shed pile. He is also official scorer for the book and will be 'the guy' to run the tape over him if I get him. ( Rick also knows where I'm hunting so 'if' the new #1 goes down , the scorer knows where).
I have 6 jobs on the go up here so getting out isnt easy. 'hopefully' I can hit it in a week or so. This fall is going to be stressfull , lol. I'm getting everything on video as well the other days shed hunting for our new DVD coming up...can only hope and pray for the big typ to get scewered on film this nov...would be unreal.
