Well, I've been applying for a special moose permit here in Montana for the past 35 years and have yet to draw one so I'm thinking if I want to take one before I cross over I might have to head north. I don't need to kill the biggest bull in the woods, but I do want to take a respectable, mature bull. Do you all have any suggestions for a reputable outfitter? I'm not a rich man by any means, but I know this is going to cost some dollars....I'm probably looking at 2014 or possibly 2015.

The type of hunt you want will determine price signifigantly. If you want a fly in hunt with horses and great mountain scenery expect to pay in the neighborhood of $10 G or better depending on if you want extras such as wolf, bear, etc. If you are interested in hunting based from a road accessible camp from four wheelers or argos with muskeg and lakes the price can be quite a bit less.
If you want to do a river hunt either floating down or with a jetboat I would recommend Alaska as a potentially cheaper option.

Driving from Montana is a great opp , you can haul your trophy and meat home.
Like was said , type of hunt dictates cost and also success to some point.
You want remote and no competition ? http://www.scooplake.com/
This outfit has several hunters that drive north regularly, they come back for more and bring their friends

Fraser or Dennis from Circle M Outfitters http://circlemoutfitters.ca/ are a good bet for moose in a great area for a reasonable price. No competition and wild, remote and beautiful area.

the farther north you go , the bigger the bulls get. try & go with an outfit at Least North of Chetwyn. There is less resident pressure also....

I'm always impressed with the moose I see on Little Dease Ventures website. If you're after a true trophy I'd head to the Northwest portion of the province and look for something out of Dease Lake or Atlin.

Buddy of mine kills some big bulls up along the BC and Alberta border and is well worth checking out. He's a very honest, hard hunting guy as well.
