View Full Version : Yeah He's a big buck DAD!

My parents just came down from up north for Christmas. The ol man was bearing gifts alright! I found out he had shot a "not bad" buck after I left from our family hunt in Region 5 in November. I just got back from my black-tail trip up Island on the the 28th of November and my wife said "hey apparently your Dad shot a nice buck". "Oh yeah what were the measurements?" She said "18 inside, 5 4/8 on the bottom and 23 on the beams". Jeepers I thought, doesn't sound that big to me! I called him up on the phone and he said he'd bring it down for me at Christmas so I could measure it for him. It was dark when he arrived and I could see some not bad back points, short front and main beams, and a narrow spread. Huh just what I thought........................................... then I reached down and went to pick him up and I had to rethink my impression. I named him the Lobster buck as the mass definitely made up for everything else. Regardless of score he's a big ol heavy pig. He'll score right at 170.

Definate shooter. On a second glance there I noticed that thick front fork, hence the name lobster buck. congrats to yer ol'man.8)

Hunter1947 - my Dads 53, he was 20 when I was born.
str8shtr - no idea but my Dad felt the buck wasn't that old. Teeth were still white (not much staining - fronts) and not worn down very much (bottom molars).

JMac, congrats to your dad that is definately a nice buck.That rack has some incredible mass to it.

Give your Dad a huge pat on the back. That is a very respectable buck....I hope you listen to him now...Some of us 50 yr olds aren't just another pretty face you know..:lol:

Yeah the ol mans struttin around the house this year. Guess next year I'll have to put him in his place. LOL
