http://http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z464/1canuckchuck/huntingmtwoodside009_zps335c2022.jpgNew hunter here. I got my hunting licence in 2011 and went hunting a little with a freind in the south okanogan.I did not do any hunting on my own as I did not have my firearms license at that point in time, so needless to say I did not do a hole lot of hunting at that time. After I got my firearms license I bought a few rifles and a hand gun and a shotgun. I entered a few limited entry hunts for Elk, Moose, and antlerless Mule deer i beleive, but I never won any of the draws. So when the season opened in the fall I went hunting fairly often made a few trips to the south Okanogan and hunted with my freind a fair bit. My friend likes to road hunt a lot and that is what i was doing with him mostly. We seen a lot of deer but never any bucks, my freind ended up getting his deer after i went home. any ways a few week ends i did not want to drive up to the okanogan so i hunted in the fraser Valley, but did not see a lot of action, hunted up at stave up at Chilliwak and a few other places locally no real luck. So I was reading on here to get out and walk more and hike around more and look around. I did this a little bit more but still no real luck. So 5 days before the season was over I went up mount woodside and looked around. SinceIi never really had a lot of luck i brought my shot gun with a few slugs and thought i would fire the shot gun for something to do.I got out and hiked around found a nice cut block and thought I would look around that area, I started walking up the cut block and never really seen anything so i thought i will go to the tree line and then shoot the shot gun but as I was walking I seen deer shit. I thought that looks fresh and I walked a little farther and seen a little more. i then looked up and there was a deer standing there looking at me he is not really moving but he is checking me out. I am looking at it and i could not see if it had antlers as it was a little dark in that area, then I look again and I think i seen a spike fork antler, no maybe not then he moves a little and i am oh ya that is a buck. I chamber a round and it freeks out a bit and then runs and stops giving me a good broad side shot . Boom took the shot and it droped immedietly. My first muley a young deer but good eating. Since I hiked in a ways I really had my work cut out for me as I was by myself so tragging the deer back to the road was a lot of work and my muscles ached for days after dragging it out of the bush. I had parked my truck about a quarter of a mile from the cut block and i did not think I could get to the cut block because it was pretty rough but after dragging the deer that far the truck was going through no matter what. I went and got my truck and nearly got stuck a few times but got to the deer and loaded it and got out at dark. it was a pretty good day, The pictures are not good taken from my phone.http://http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z464/1canuckchuck/myfirstdeerdeer003_zps8fe6d150.jpg
